Ok anyone that has installed, or tried to install a WordPress blog. It can be a difficult process, so we are going to give you the run down. Now most of this information we have paraphrased from wordpress’ own installation page. We try though to break it down further to ensure that everyone can install a WordPress blog without any hangups.
To start you need to have full access to your websites’ server, a text editor, a FTP program (to upload all the necessary files) and access to an internet browser. Your server must be able to run PHP version 4.3 or greater and MySQL 4.0 or greater. You can contact your hosting company to ensure compliance. WebsiteSource, our hosting company, offers an auto-install process that you should check for first. This is what my cPanel looks like, most others will look similar.

In order to install your blog on the top-level “your homepage” you must install it manually. See below:
-
Download the updated version of WordPress
-
Unzip the file to your desktop
-
Create a database. For most website hosting companies there will be a link that says MySQL. Using PHPMyAdmin
-
Click add database and fill in all of the fields as you see fit. Be sure to write down everything to ensure you have access to it later.
-
Rename wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php detailed HERE
-
Place all the files in the desired folder, or on the top-level. Uploading to the top-level will allow your homepage to be the blog homepage.
-
You now need to run the script by pointing your browser to the wp-admin/install.php
The below videos will hopefully help you in installing WordPress either manually or via the cPanel.
